Text: Daniel 1: 9; Genesis 39: 4-6; Esther 2: 15
Favour means unmerited kind act from God. Favour with God can also mean God’s grace upon One’s life. Favour with God does not depend on One’s intelligence, ignorance, strength, or weakness but it depends on knowing that victory can only come through Jesus Christ.
Daniel was carried as captive into Babylon. He was a stranger in Babylon and under a normal situation it was not possible for him to have favour with the leaders of Babylon. But because he feared God he had from Him. Although a slave in Babylon he had a healthy attitude towards others regardless of what he was passing through. He never allowed that to discourage him. He believed that he will succeed and this challenged him to trust in God under difficult situation he knew that God was in charge. As a Child of God and as one who feared God he refused to compromise his faith. He knew that he will not fail but succeed. Daniel knew that his victory was in God’s hand and not in the circumstances surrounding him.
Favour from God will cover your mistakes as if you had none. Favour from God will turn your mistake into success. Favour from God will keep you in God’s presence and bring you before great men. As the lord brought Daniel into favour with the leaders at Babylon so God will bring you into favour with great men and women of this world. He will cover your mistakes as if you had none if only you will obey Him and refuse to compromise your faith.
Jesus Christ tells us in John 12: 26 that if any one serves Him and follows His way…….. him will His father honour”. By God’s favour Daniel became the Prime Minister of Babylon. Joseph was another young man who found God’s fanour even as a prisoner in Egypt he refused to be discouraged. He went about his duty not with a rebellious spirit but with the spirit to succeed. He refused to do evil to his oppressors, because he knew that his dream will one day come to a fulfillment. He knew that his victory was in God’s hand and not in the situation he has found himself. Gen. 39:21-23 tell us that “the Lord was with Joseph, and showed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison he committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there he was the doer of it. The keeper of the prison looked not to anything that was under his hand, because the Lord was with him, and that which he did, the lord made it to prosper. Joseph allowed the fear of God to control his mind and spirit even when the enemy meant bad for him.
He refused to allow his inner man to be defeated and that made him in charge of every situation he found himself.
Esther was another person who found favour in the sight of God. Although she was a second hand citizen in Shushan, this did not discourage her from participating in the beauty contest.
Esther chapter 2 verse 15 reads Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her”.
Verse 17 also reads. The king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins, so that he set the Royal crown upon her instead of Vashti” Esther obtained favour in the eyes of all that looked at her. So you shall find favour with all that come across you today in Jesus name. You don’t need physical make up to find favour with God and man.
Esther 2 chapter verse 15 tells us that when it was the turn of Esther she required nothing else but what Hegai the king’s Chamberlain, the keeper of the women gave her.
To obtain favour from God you need to come to Jesus and draw from his power. Your success is not depending on your environment or circumstances but it is dependent on your relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Lord is still in the Business of blessing His people. Numbers chapter 6 verses 25 say, “the Lord makes his face to shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee.
Brethren, make the Lord Jesus your portion in life continually and persist in living for him God.
I pray that you find favour in the sight of God as you decide to obey him.
